PR & Media Strategy for Physicians, MedTech, & Healthcare Brands.
Doctors PR & Marketing turns medical expertise, clinical innovation and new healthcare technology into compelling stories for television, national media, and digital publications.
Over 25 years of medical media experience.
-
Doctor’s PR combines online, TV and print PR with strategic marketing, branding and social media branding. Our experience in placing physicians on TV news and talk shows is built on creativity in formulating story topics that appeal to the media and the audience. Over more than 20 years we have worked with many leading physicians and industry leaders, and have publicized some of the most successful non-surgical and surgical aesthetic devices, treatments and procedures of all time.
-
Doctors PR is experienced in working with physicians in virtually every field of medicine including cardiology, urology, spinal surgery, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, sports medicine and more.
For example, orthopedic surgeons can educate the public and attract new patients with an effective media relations and online marketing strategy. San Francisco, CA Spine surgeon Dr. Kenneth Light and his patient were interviewed by ABC News on new technology to treat spinal stenosis, a painful and debilitating condition.
Quoting the story:
Dr. Light's patient Tim Taylor is recovering from a back problem so severe he says it was ruining his life. "I couldn't stand up straight. It was just too painful." Tim was suffering from spinal stenosis, a degenerative condition that strikes most often in people over the age of 50. The condition is impacting aging baby boomers in increasing numbers.
"It's definitely an orthopedic epidemic," says Dr. Light, who recently made news when he performed the first spinal fusion reversal procedures in the U.S. "Within the coming decade, the number of people reporting these types of back problems is only going to increase."
Dr. Light says spinal stenosis is caused by a narrowing in the spinal canal, often caused by bone spurs that form on the vertebrae, which compress surrounding nerves. "Correcting severe cases like Taylor's can involve a combination of delicate procedures.”
Dr. Light says advanced technology is making it possible to safely reshape the spine with much better results. "The hardware is better and we have stronger instruments that take up less room," he says. "It allows us to manipulate the spine in ways we couldn't have done before.”

Why Doctors PR for MedTech Companies?
Medical Specialization
We do not serve every industry.
Our work centers on medicine, physicians, healthcare technologies and related consumer health categories.
Senior-Led
The executive involved in developing your strategy remains involved in your campaign.
Physician + Manufacturer Perspective
Doctors PR has represented individual physicians, medical practices, medical-device technologies and healthcare companies.
That provides an unusual understanding of both the company developing a technology and the physicians expected to use and explain it.
Earned-Media Expertise
Many integrated marketing firms can purchase advertising, optimize search or produce social content.
Persuading a legitimate reporter, editor or television producer that a medical story deserves independent coverage requires a different skill set.
That remains central to what Doctors PR does.
Boutique Agility
Our model allows senior strategy to be combined with specialized communications, research, creative, digital and production resources as needed without requiring clients to support the overhead of a large agency infrastructure.
Where We Add the Most Value
Doctors PR is particularly well suited for companies approaching moments such as:
FDA clearance or approval
U.S. commercialization
significant financing
new clinical results
major medical conference
first patient treated
new indication
strategic partnership
market expansion
executive transition
product launch
preparation for subsequent financing or strategic transaction.
Our Goal
Publicity alone is not the objective.
Our goal is to help a medical innovation become understood, credible and visible among the audiences whose decisions determine whether that technology achieves broader adoption.

Gary Grasso
Director, Doctors PR & Marketing
Medical Public Relations • Media Strategy • Physician Positioning • Brand Development
Doctors PR & Marketing helps physicians, medical technology companies, and health and wellness brands turn expertise and innovation into compelling stories that earn public attention. With more than 25 years of specialized experience, Gary Grasso brings a record of representing nationally recognized physicians, introducing emerging medical technologies to consumers, and building visibility for brands competing against some of the world’s largest companies.
His experience spans the distinct needs of medical practices, entrepreneurial ventures, and publicly traded device manufacturers. Combining strategic positioning with hands-on media relations, Gary translates complex medical subjects into accessible, newsworthy stories—connecting a client’s expertise with the questions, concerns, and interests that drive media coverage.
Therabreath: an incredible success story.
One of Gary’s longstanding client relationships began in 1996, when he was retained by dentist and bacteriologist Dr. Harold Katz, founder of Therabreath mouthwash. Gary developed a public relations and consumer awareness campaign that secured television interviews and live appearances across the country over many years. Sustained media exposure helped introduce Dr. Katz and his oral care products to a national audience as TheraBreath went on to gain shelf placement in major grocery and drugstore chains, competing in a category dominated by multibillion-dollar corporations. In 2021, Church & Dwight acquired TheraBreath for $580 million in cash—a significant milestone in the growth of a brand Gary had helped publicize during its formative years.
Building medical device brands, going public: InMode & Syneron.
Gary also brings extensive experience supporting medical device companies through pivotal stages of development. He represented aesthetic technology company Syneron during its early growth and continued working with the company through and after its initial public offering. His relationship with InMode likewise began before its 2019 IPO and continued as the company expanded its presence in medical aesthetics. InMode remains a client.
Bringing news of a revolution in dentistry.
Gary represented inventor dentist Dr. John Chao, developer of the Pinhole® Surgical Technique, also known as Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation. First contracted by Dr. Chao in 2013, Gary’s multi-year engagement focused on publicizing Pinhole® and building consumer awareness of this new approach to treating receding gums without scalpels or sutures. Gary immediately gained multiple media appearances for Dr. Chao which continued over the following years, including an appearance on The Doctors show. This media coverage built public awareness and drove demand for the new technique, leading to patients asking their own dentists about Pinhole® . This supported Dr. Chao in bringing the technique to the dental community as an alternative to conventional gum grafting surgery, and ultimately achieving his goal of personally teaching the Pinhole® technique to thousands of dentists and periodontists from around the world.
This relationship further demonstrates Gary’s experience helping medical and dental innovators communicate their developments to the public and establish recognition for distinctive treatments.
Expertise in representing distinguished physicians in all fields.
The Doctors PR physician and expert client portfolio has included Canadian plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Mulholland; Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif; Barry Sears, PhD, author of The Zone diet books; cardiologist Dr. Ernst von Schwarz; New York orthopedic surgeon Dr. Nakul Karkare; New Jersey plastic surgeon Dr. Barry DiBernardo; and California dermatologist Dr. Patrick Bitter, Jr., among many others.
Digital PR, brand & authority development and top-tier media, all under one roof.
Gary has secured client exposure across national, regional, and local media, including CNN, Fox News, NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America and The View, The Doctors, CBS Morning Show, Good Day Philadelphia, and The Dr. Oz Show, to name a few. Print and digital coverage has included the New York Post, Daily Mail, Insider, Fox Health , Biohacker magazine, The Sun, and many others.
Beyond individual media placements, Gary helps clients identify what makes their expertise, treatment, technology, or product distinctive—and develop that distinction into a sustained public presence. His work encompasses earned media strategy, physician and executive positioning, product and treatment publicity, consumer education, branding, and marketing across traditional and digital channels.
For physicians seeking greater recognition, medical device companies introducing new technologies, and health brands pursuing broader awareness, Gary offers experienced counsel, a clear understanding of the medical marketplace, and the ability to make specialized expertise relevant to the public.
